Police Department Announces New Non-Emergency Phone Number

Posted October 28, 2026 · Public Safety

The McLean Police Department has a new non-emergency telephone number: (806) 395-5198. Effective immediately, residents should use this number to reach an officer for any matter that does not involve an immediate threat to life or property.

Examples of non-emergency calls include reporting a theft that happened in the past, loud music or barking dogs, abandoned vehicles, requesting a vacation house watch, asking a question about a city ordinance, or arranging to pick up a copy of a report.

Residents and businesses are asked to update their phone contacts, refrigerator lists, and any printed materials. Business owners who have the department listed on alarm company call sheets should contact their alarm provider to update the number.

As always, if you are experiencing an emergency, a crime in progress, a fire, a medical emergency, or a traffic crash with injuries, call 9-1-1. Do not use the non-emergency line for emergencies.

"We want to make it as easy as possible for folks to reach us," said Chief Quinn Ackerman. "Write the number down, put it in your phone, and don’t hesitate to call. That’s what we’re here for."
