City Proposes Lower Property Tax Rate for 2026

Posted August 20, 2026 · Government

The City of McLean has proposed a property tax rate of $0.707000 per $100 of taxable valuation for the 2026 tax year. That is a decrease from the 2025 adopted rate of $0.725000 per $100 valuation.

A public meeting to vote on the proposed rate was scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2026, at the Lovett Memorial Library. As required by Texas law, notice of the proposed rate was published in advance and residents were invited to attend and comment.

Property taxes fund essential city services including the police department, street maintenance, the volunteer fire department, parks, and general administration. Water, sewer, and trash services are funded separately through monthly utility rates.

Residents who have questions about their appraised value should contact the Gray County Appraisal District. Questions about the city budget may be directed to City Hall at info@mcleantx.org.
